Android Surpasses Apple as the Leading OS on Mobile Ad Network
Watch out Apple! Mobile advertising network Millenial Media announced last week the Android OS had surpassed Apple’s iOS as the leading smartphone OS on its network. Interestingly, Android phones also outsold iPhones for the first time in early 2010, while a report from Nielsen recently revealed that Android increased its share of new smartphone buyers between January and November while Apple’s share remained about steady and BlackBerry’s decreased.
This bodes well for forecasts made in September last year by Gartner Research, that the open-source Android OS would be the leading smartphone OS by 2014.
Apple App Store About to Hit 10 Billion Downloads
Nearly 10 billion apps have been downloaded from Apple’s App Store worldwide and Apple has putting up a pretty decent prize to celebrate the occasion - a $10,000 iTunes Gift Card (think of all the apps you could buy!) to the person who downloads the 10 billionth app. If you’ve been thinking about downloading Angry Birds, now would be the time to start lingering around the store!
Cadbury makes £3 for every £1 spent on digital ads
The first comprehensive trial to track the impact of online advertising on offline sales has found that Cadbury has generated £2-3 in sales for every £1 spent on digital advertising,
The ability of brands to track directly the impact of online advertising on physical sales is set to rocket this year, driving investment in online advertising, particularly from the FMCG sector. Cadbury and Listerine are boosting online spend due to a growing confidence that ROI can be directly attributed to digital activity, according to Bruce Daisley, Google leader of YouTube and display.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has been named one of Esquire magazine’s worst-dressed men of 2010 - which just goes to show, that money can buy you a lot of things but it can’t buy you style!
