The iPhone 4 was launched on Thursday last week and 1.5 million units sold during the first day. However, many complaints have been made about the device already. The most serious being that when held a certain way the phone loses signal. Other issues include yellow dots and bands on the display and easily scratchable glass on the front and back. According to sentiment, statistics for the term iPhone on 24th June, 28% of tweets were negative.
Google Plans Music Service Tied to Search Engine
According to the Wall Street Journal, Google is planning to launch a music download service tied to its search engine later this year as well as an online music subscription service in 2011. The first step will apparently be an online store where users can buy and download songs. Another feature will be displaying a link to the store when people search for songs on google.com. This will be direct competition for the iTunes store but will probably be welcomed by music labels worried about Apple’s dominance.
Facebook prepares to launch location based software
Mark Zuckerberg announced at the Cannes ad festival that Facebook will launch location based software that allows people to receive personalised information and advertising based on their current surroundings. There isn’t a huge amount of information available at the moment but at the festival Zuckerberg said how important he feels personalisation is and how they’re very close to having the finished product.
