Launch of Google Instant

Last week saw the launch of Google Instant, meaning that the moment a user starts to type their search query Google starts to predict what the user is seeking out, with results continuously changing as the user continues to type. Basically Google now second guesses what the user is seeking.

This has received masses of online coverage throughout the week, including being branded ‘the death of SEO’ on Twitter. I Spy’s John Hutson, addressed this in his blog post entitled ‘Why you need to calm down about Google Instant’, as while it may affect traffic it won’t have an effect on rankings.

Facebook launches new global advertising metrics

Facebook has launched a range of new advertising metrics with the goal of attracting more global advertising spend, by attempting to better illustrate the value of social context on the site.

The social networking site has introduced a “Social %” column in the Ads Manager section, showing the percentage of advertising impressions that were delivered with social endorsements.

WPP online ad network 24/7 Real Media doubles its UK reach

According to data on the top 10 networks from ComScore, 24/7 Real Media now has the sixth biggest reach in the UK at 82%, having had only 40% in July 2009.

The Google Ad Network in comparison has the greatest reach at 38.3 million users, 92.7% of the UK internet population.
