10 Commandments Of Advertising On Twitter

Some of you might have had a read of last week’s article on the best practices to Twitter advertising.
As a recap I thought I’d give you what I think are the top 10 things to remember when it comes to promoting your tweets and account.
  1. Don’t jump straight into setting up a campaign, have a budget allocation strategy in place before you do anything.
  2. Think 360: Use your marketing plan to add Twitter advertising into your marketing mix
  3. Use Twitter Analytics to choose the most appropriate interests for your promoted accounts.
  4. Monitor relevant trending topics and news to maximise the exposure of your promoted tweets.
  5. Promote tweets that will grab the users’ attention (e.g. special offers, competitions, videos).
  6. Always refresh and amend campaigns according to performance and analytics.
  7. Keep track of budget spent on a weekly basis.
  8. Don’t be afraid to increase spend if your budget runs out quickly. Remember that Twitter only charges you when a user takes action so the more you’ve spent, the better results you’ve obtained!
  9. The dashboard gives you real-time results meaning you can readjust your bid – if your budget is spending too quickly you can lower your bid but if your budget is not being spending  fast enough, increase your bid slightly.

10. Consider promoted tweets during out-of -office hours to increase your engagement rate.
