Google Adds New Product Ads for Mobile
Google has expanded their mobile product ads offering by launching two new styles of product ads for mobile, product extension and product local ads.
The styles allow product images to be displayed with relevant information relating to that product. For example it will enable users to see how much stock is available at their nearest outlet. Google is hopeful that this will significantly drive mobile conversions.
Facebook now knows what you look like
Facebook has started rolling out their new facial recognition technology to help users automatically identify and tags other users within picture on the site. It was initially tested within a number of states across the US; however this has now expanded to the all of the US and many countries across the world.
One of the benefits of this technology is to help decrease the amount of time spent labelling friends in a large amount of photos. Facebook has stated that this technology by default is turned on, which has caused some alarm amongst many users and privacy campaign groups.
Google Buys PostRank to Boost Social Analytics
Google has acquired now PostRank, a social analytics service that helps measure social posts and trends. Real time data is collected, especially on a company’s own posts, trending social topics, most talked about & high volume conversations.
Established in 2007 under the name of “AideRSS”, PostRank has grown to become, in their own words the “largest aggregator of social engagement data in the industry”.
