Happy 5th Birthday Twitter!

Last week saw the social network site celebrate its fifth birthday.  It has been five years since Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey posted his very first tweet with the very simple message “just setting up my twitter” and this has since been followed by some 30 billion tweets from users all around the world.  To celebrate it’s birthday, Twitter launched a new website, Discover Twitter, and a new video featuring some of its most prominent users.

100 Million Users on LinkedIn

LinkedIn, the business social network, annouced that it has reached a new milestone of 100 million registered users to the site.  Originally launched in May 2003, the site has seen its user numbers double from 50 million users in the past year and a half.  LinkedIn annouced it has 90 million users when it went public in October 2010 and is now said to be adding a new member to the site every second.

Google’s New Online Magazine

Last week saw Google launching it’s own full length online magazine, Think Quarterly. The magazine which is based in the UK has been created with the aim to build “breathing space in the busy world.” The 68 page spread looks into our data driven society and how data can impact businesses.
