Google Launches Instant Previews
Google have now given its users the ability to preview a webpage without having to leave their search results page. It is just the latest feature by the search engine which has time-saving in mind, as visitors no longer need to go into websites and come back out of them again to find the information they are looking for.
A searcher can use the feature by clicking on the small magnifying glass logo which appears on the right hand side of the search result. Google have denied that this will have an affect on the paid ads on the right hand side of the page, as they believe that if people are focussed on finding something in the natural results, they are more likely to keep looking here than towards the paid listings.
Google Product Listing Ads Available to Advertisers
Advertisers are now being offered the chance to display Google product listing ads. They will be able to give Google a feed of their products, which would then appear with images in the ads on a cost per acquisition basis.
Google product listing ads were previously in closed beta testing, which involved approximately 800 advertisers. Now however, anyone will be able to take part in the program.
They ads are designed to purchased on a cost per acquisition basis, however, the advertiser can opt to into a cost per click preference should they so wish.
Google Vice President Warns UK may ‘Run Out’ of Internet Space Next Year
Vint Cerf, the vice-president of Google and the man dubbed as ‘the godfather of the net’ has claimed that Europe is likely to run out of capacity for new internet addresses as soon as early next year, cutting the UK off from the rest of the online world.
He added that the shortage of internet address space represents a ‘serious boundary’ to the future growth of the web.
Vint Cerf has blamed the use of the standardised IPv4 IP addresses, which are used in Europe. He has now joined a UK-based campaign group 6UK, which urges businesses to adopt the IPv6 addresses as soon as possible.
