Grow your online presence: Take it offline
One of our first best-practice-rules for social media was to encourage cross promotion of social media accounts; i.e. advertise your official blog and Facebook presence on your Twitter wallpaper, add badges linking to your Facebook, Twitter and blog on your homepage and ensure URLs to all your accounts are listed on your Facebook Page.
Working in social media has made me increasingly (and sadly) excited about businesses that do it well. On my commute this morning, I couldn’t help but marvel at the fact that both The Girl in the Dragon Tattoo and Diet Coke were advertising their Facebook presence in their Stylist Magazine ads, a concept that has also been encouraged here (one of our client even added their social media presence to their till receipts!)
One of the most exciting aspects of social media is the concept of ‘socialising’ your brand - just because these platforms exist online, doesn’t mean they should only involve online campaigns. Get the word out by organising events for your followers, offering in-store discounts for your most loyal fans and creating surprising flashmob virals. All of these can have a huge impact how your customers interact with your brand online.

Must say I agree about getting excited when I see good execution.
It’s like the “MySpace Days” where everyone showed off their MySpace URL. The amount of times companies are pushing their Facebook, Twitter and YouTube channels offline is increasing for sure.
I remember in Liverpool Street recently there was advertising for a Whiskey brand and along the wall it hand a big Facebook Like button saying “London Likes This” - Wish I had taken a picture!
