Improving your web pages loading time will increase your Conversion Rate

One of the multiple factors that influence search engine rankings, is the rate in which your web pages load. However, were you aware that even a 1 second delay in page response can result in a staggering 7% reduction in conversions? Additionally, at least 40% of users abandon a website if it takes more than 3 seconds to load (KISSmetrics)?
You can use Google Webmaster Tools to get an idea of the average site load time. Simply go to Labs > Site performance report.

Site Performance Report

If you want to get actionable insights, you’ll be better off using the new Google Analytics page speed report containing detailed daily stats on page load speed across your site. The additional benefit of using Google Analytics is that you can evaluate your data in the context of different content areas, traffic sources, browsers (including mobile) or geo-locations and prioritise page speed optimisation accordingly. You can refer to this technical guide to page load optimisation to understand the specific actions you can take.

To enable page speed tracking you’ll need to insert an additional tag into your Google Analytics tracking code block. The reports will be activated within a few hours of implementation in the content section of the new Google Analytics platform.
