Goodbye email to a friend, hello Send!

Another Facebook update you may or may not have noticed yet - On Monday, Facebook launched its Send button in the US.

The Send button is a variation of the Like button. Click it and a pop-up appears that allows you to send the item to friends, groups or an email address alongside a message. The concept stemmed from the common occurence of Facebook users sharing links to an eCommerce website within a group to make a purchasing decision.

On to the important part - How will this effect business pages? For one, the Send button will account for the total number of likes the page has. Business page likes will therefore = likes + shares + comments + inbox messages containing a URL.

Secondly, the Send button will add an element of privacy to the Like button, which may increase the likes on business pages that aren’t as “socially” sharable.

Would you install the Send button on your website? When would you opt to Send rather than Like? If you’d like to read more, find the details of this development on Mashable.
