An interesting week in the world of search and online in general with Google seemingly coming under the microscope of antitrust legislators in Europe and the US. This is an inevitable backlash against the overwhelming market dominance of Google and the increasing scope of its services. My issue with all of this is that Google’s growth and dominance is the direct result of user preference so who are legislators to argue? It’s not like Google comes pre-installed on every PC…

Google facing EU and FCC anti-trust investigation and potentially massive fines… complaints encouraged by Microsoft, go figure!

Google held responsible for Youtube content in Italy - A slightly worrying instance of a publisher being held responsible for UGC uploaded to its site. Interesting to see if this proves a precedent for other similar instances
